The Expedition Begins!

On this blog, you'll join me on my expedition of learning to teach social studies! I'll be documenting each week about what I've learned to keep you all updated!

This week, we started with introductions!

We also selected the group that we'll be working with this semester! My group is pictured above and we're very excited to teach social studies this semester!

I also participated in a syllabus Easter Egg Treasure Hunt!

This treasure hunt was designed so that I could read through the syllabus, learn what will be in store for me in this course this semester, and complete the beginning activities of the course. This activity helped me understand what would be expected of me throughout the course and it reminded me of the importance of reading directions thoroughly. I could use an activity like this in my future classroom as a fun way for my students to learn what will be expected of them and to help them jumpstart their learning by embedding activities right in the first document they read for the year! It will give students the opportunity to practice their ability to understand and follow directions, just like it did for me.
