Cooperation is Key!

Cooperation is Key!

This is a picture of the PIGS model!
I'm going to tell you what I predict that each of the terms of "PIGS" means below.

I think positive interdependence means that students feel good about the teacher-student collaboration in the classroom. That means that the students would feel supported, but also feel that they can do things on their own. This creates a positive interdependenceI think individual accountability is when a person takes responsibility for themselves. I think that group processing is when a small group of students is in the process of learning new information together, so they process all the information together. I think that social skills are the necessary skills that a student need to interact with their peers. This could range from holding conversation to being able to sit on the carpet during story time.

The Exploration of a REAL Lesson Plan!

Exploring A Real Lesson Plan!

The lesson that I looked at for a Lesson plan Evaluation I did this week was about Earth Day! If you want to see the lesson for yourself, you can find it here!

I found the Lesson Plan Evaluation activity very insightful! I didn't realize how difficult it would be to spot the different models in practice. It was great practice to see how actual lessons that could be used relate to the theories that we learn in class. This showed me what I should be keeping in mind when I have a classroom of my own. This activity also showed me some great resources that I can use in my classroom to keep students engaged with the material! The lesson I evaluated, which was Lesson 6 on Earth Day, had the students go on a virtual scavenger hunt of sorts, where they had to watch videos, read short articles, and pull out the information that was asked of them. I really liked this format and I'll be sure to incorporate something like this in my own classroom, especially by using kids.nationalgeographic.com. If you want to see how I evaluated and reflected on the lesson, you can find the link it my responses here!

New Teacher Skills Downloaded!

Update: New Teacher Skills Now Available!

Above is a poster that my professor had my class discuss this week! When I look at this poster, I'm reminded about the generational gap there is in regards to technology. While teachers need to modernize their lessons to incorporate technology, students also need to learn how to put the technology aside and work with paper when needed.

Digging Deeper into the Semester!

Let's Dig Up What Happened in Week Two!

This is my introduction slide that I shared with the class! I had so much fun designing this classroom and picking out my book! I never used Epic Books before and this website helped me find a great book that I can use in my classroom one day so that all my students can see themselves in literature. I shared my Flipgrid with you last week, but you can find the link to my blog here!

Above is my Digital Me project, which you can access here!

That's a Wrap!

Last Day!! It's the end of the semester! It's crazy how fast time has gone, but I'm grateful for this experience. I've rea...
